Everest Base Camp from Jiri

Our trek starts from jiri , following up the Dudh Koshi river valley towards Namche, and other main villages of Khumbu, Thame & Khumjung.
After Khumjung Valley we branch off from the main busy trail towards the sleepy village of Phortse Tenga and finally reaching to our ultimate destination at Gokyo. Gokyo, a one time yak pasture is blessed with two beautiful high lakes, with a majestic view of Cho Oyu and other 8000 metres peaks of the region.
We climb Kala Pattar (the ‘Black Rock’) or the Gokyo Ri at Gokyo, to view the Western shoulder of Mt. Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse and far away Makalu. We continue on towards the main Everest trail at Thyangboche, a famous monastery.
Our return journey is made via Namche Bazaar and finally to Lukla to conclude this high journey, with a great experience of a lifetime.

Airport & Transfer to Hotel.
Namaste and welcome to Nepal, You'll be met and assisted at the airport by our local representatives who will arrange your transfer and check in to your hotel. - Day 2
- Kathmandu Sightseeing, Durbar
Square/monkey temple/Boudhanath
In the morning we explore Kathmandu on an organized sightseeing tour visiting Bodhnath Stupa & Swoyam,bhu Nath Stupa. Here we may observe Buddhist monks in prayer in the monasteries surrounding the Stupa. where we can visit the surrounding monasteries and perhaps watch the monks as they chant their daily mantras. In addition, we visit Pashupatinath, the most famous Hindu temple in the country, located on the banks of the holy Bagmati River. Here we will see Hindu holymen (or Sadhus), pilgrims bathing and, occasionally, funeral pyres burning on the ghats. In the evening, you will be supplied with your trek packs and final departure details for tomorrow. - Day 3
- Kathmandu to Jiri (2370m)
After breakfast this morning we'll drive by bus via the Araniko highway to Lamasangu. In the route we'll pass the old Newar towns of Benepa and Dhulikhel from where we'll have excellent panoramic views of the eastern Himalayas, including Ganesh Himal,
Langtang Lirung and Dorjee Lakpa, The Road descends to Panchkal, then clibs over a ridge behind Dolalghat and follows the Sunkoshi north to Lamasangu. After passing several more traditional village we'll reach Jiri from where our trek begins. We'll relax tonight at a local teahouse or in our tented camp. - Day 4
- Jiri to Bahandar
This morning our trek start with to the ridge top at 2370m followed by a drop down to Shivalaya at 1750m. From shivalaya we climb again to Sangbadanda and Derorali Pass. From deorali Danda we descend again to Bhandar. a samall sherpa village with a Tibetan Buddhist monastery. We'll spend the evening here in a local teahouse or in our tented camp. - Day 5
- Bhandar to Sete (2575m)
Today the trail drops down to the Linkhu Khola before crossing the river at 1490m. We then follow the trail along the rriver to reach kenja at 1570m. From here the long ascent to the Lamjura Bhanjyang pass begins before the traverse to Sete village. We'll rest and relax nonihgt at sete in our tented camp or a local teahouse. - Day 6
- Sete to Jubesi
After breakfast today we follow the trail as it passes gradually up through lamjura Pass (3530m), the hight point between Jiri and Namche Bazaar. The trail then desends through fir and rhododentron forest and emerges after one and a half hours at Takto. We'll follow the trail on the north side of the valley and around a notch before dropping down to the sherpa village of Junbesi for our overnight stop. - Day 7
- Jubesi
Today is a full rest day at Junbesi. The region around Junbesi is well worht exploring and our day spent here offers a variety of alternatives. Two hours walk to the norht of Junbesi is the village of Phugmochhe (3100m) where there is an interesting traditional Sherp art centre. En route to Phugmochhe a short diverson will allow a visit to Thuibten Chyuling, a huae Tebetan Budhist monstery about one and half hour's walk from Junbesi. or simply relax at our guesthouse or tented camp. - Day 8
- Junbesi to Nunthala
Below Junbesi the trail rosses the Junbesi Khola on a wooden birdge. Just beyond the bridge there is a trail junction our route to Khumbu follows the left – hand trail that leads uphill. We'll follow the trail north, desending through Salung. From the Dudhkoshi River the trail then ascends to Ringmo and the trak Shidno Pass. There are a few shepherds' huts beside the trail but this part of the rout is mostly hidden indense forest. We'll cross several picturesque strams by wooden bridge just before reaching Nunthala at 2320m where we'll rest for the night. - Day 9
- Nunthala to Bupsadanda (2300m)
From Nunthala our descent contines to the Dudhkoshi River at 1480m and across to follow the other bank. Most of the trail today is well defined, although it sometimes menders through terraced fields and the yards of local houses. it then descends steeply through forests to a Chautara (Resting place ) overlooking the river., We'll follow the river for a while through the surrounding forests then climb through terraes to reach the Rai village of Jubing (1667). After a climb through the village and around a ridge we'll fro the prominent notch in the landscape just in front of us. From this notch contour we'll continue on to the village of Khari Khola (2004m) and push on up the steep hill to Buspsadanda where we'll rest tonight. - Day 10
- Bupsadanda to Surke
Today the trail descends from Khari Khola village and crosses a stream of the same name via a suspension bridge neat some water-driven mills at 2010m. After a steep climb to Bhupsa, or Bhumsing, (2300m) the trail continues to climb through a tributary valley filled with prickly leaned oak and rhododendron forest. where languor monkeys can occasionally be seen. We'll now descend (305m) and cross the next tributary after about a one hour trek. We'll then continue on the north side of the valley to reach Puiyan (2796m) for our overnight stay. - Day 11
- Surke to Phakding
After breakfast today we'll follow the trail as it climbs for about an hour after Puiyan to the ridge at 2800m, followed by another ridge. The trail then descends to Sukhe (Buwa) At 2293, on a tributary of the Dudhkoshi, Thre Trail remains above the village circling it like an expressway. The village of Surkhe, at the bridge crossing the tributary below, is 2 hrs from Puiyan. The trail now leaves this tributary valley and heads more directly north towards Chaurikharka, another dispersed village. Before ascending to Churikharka (2713m) the main trail crosses a spectacular deep gorge with a high waterfall (2808m). We'll rest overnight at Phakding. - Day 12
- Phaking to Namche
This is a beautiful days walking through magnificent rhododendron, magnolia and fir forest for approximately 5 hours. Several village along our route provide welcome teashops and the views of the peak improve continuously until we reach Namche after a long pull up a ridge. Namche is the main Sherpa village and here we'll have a rest for the evening and enjoy an afternoon walking around the village. - Day 13
- Namche Bazaar - Acclimatization
We remain at Namche for a second night to allow for proper acclimatization to the altitude. Namche is a prosperous village, situated in a large, protected hollow. It gained its importance during the period when Tibetan salt was traded for the lowland grains of Nepal. Today a limited amount of trade exists at Namche and Tibetans are often seen in the village trading rugs and Chinese-made goods, clothing, salt and dried meat.
It is recommended that you take the opportunity to see both the sunrise and sunset views from the National Park Headquarters above the village. The view is stunning a superb panorama of the Khumbu peaks with great views of Everest. After breakfast, a variety of options exists; perhaps a walk towards Thami (3810m) above the beautiful Bhote Khola river valley or a visit to the National Park Headquarters to see the interesting displays of Sherpa lifestyle and culture. There is also a mountaineering display and details of the park’s flora and fauna. Your guides will be on hand to offer advice and escort you on your walks. - Day 14
- Namche Bazar - Thyangboche 3 To 4 Hrs. (3867m)
From Namche, we climb towards the park headquarters and follow a contouring trail high above the Dudh Kosi River. Above Namche the route to Thyangboche becomes visible with the monastery seen below the summit of Everest and surrounded by Himalayan peaks. On today’s walk there are opportunities to spot the local wildlife, including the beautiful Danphe Pheasant often seen among the birch and silver fir forest between Shanasa and Trashinga, and Himalayan Thar on the high ground above the trail. After reaching the re-forestation nursery at Trashinga, the trail drops steeply to cross the Dudh Kosi at Phunkitenga (3250m), where we take lunch. In the afternoon we pass water-driven prayer wheels and ascend, initially steeply, through pine, fir, black juniper and rhododendron forest towards Thyangboche. The monastery and our lodge are located in a beautiful meadow surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks in a truly peaceful and tranquil setting. The most notable peaks seen from here are Kantega, Ama Dablam (perhaps the most beautiful peak in the region), and of course Mount Everest. - Day 15
- Thyangboche -Feriche 4 To 5 Hrs. (4252m)
After an early breakfast, we tour the largest and most important monastery in the region, Thangboche. Following the Imja Khola we go through Pangboche and over a short hill to the small village of Periche. - Day 16
- Feriche - Lobuche 4 To 5 Hrs. (4930m)
we traverse around the flanks of Lobuje Peak, bearing left into the upper Khumbu valley. After a steep ascent, we gain the main Everest trail and the village of Lobuje. After our journey over the Cho La, it will seem very busy here! Time: 4 hours. - Day 17
- Labuche - Gorak Shep (5160m) (3 To 4 Hrs.) Kala Patar 2 Hrs. (5545m)
About 3 hours beyond Lobuje we reach Gorak Shep, the site of the 1953 expedition's base camp. An evening ascent of Kala Pattar (5,545m/18,188ft) is highly recommended for hopefully a sunset view of Everest. The climb takes about 2 hours and can be hard work, but the effort is rewarded by the classic view of Everest and the Khumbu Icefall, as well as Lhotse, Nuptse, and Pumori immediately above. - Day 18
- Gorak Shep - Everest Base Camp Back To Gorak Shep - 4 Hrs.
Today as you walk you can see the icy-glacial pond and icebergs down below of Khumbu glacier. The walk brings you to Gorakshep which has two teahouses and was base camp for the early 50's expedition to Mt. Everest. At the top of Kalapatthar the view is beyond imagination and Everest looks within a stones throw. The panoramic view from this spot makes the hard climb feel worthwhile. Descend for the overnight camp at Labuche - Day 19
- Gorak Shep - Pheriche 3 Hrs. (4593m)
We retrace our steps to Lobuje, and keep going down the Khumbu valley. Passing the snout of the Khumbu Glacier, we reach a line of memorials to Sherpas who have died on Everest. With the stunning peak of Ama Dablam in the background, we pass the small settlement of Dugla, and continue to Pheriche. This is a large village with many tea-houses, and the home of a Himalayan Rescue Association hospital. The hospital always welcome donations and have Tee Shirts to sell. Time: 6 hours. - Day 20
- Pheriche to Thyangboche
Following the main Everest trail down the beautifully scenic valley, we pass through Pangboche and re-cross the river before climbing to the famous monastery at Thyangboche. It now has a brand new monastery, the largest in the area, as the old one was destroyed by fire a few years ago. Built in the traditional style, with its gleaming copper roofs, it is as grand as eve - Day 21
- Trek to Namche Bazaar
A steep descent of around 1500ft/500m leads through bird filled rhododendron bushes and fir trees to the Dudh Kosi River. Crossing this on yet another suspension bridge, we climb up the opposite side of the valley to reach the contouring path leading back to Namche Bazaar. Namche is the perfect place to enjoy some well-deserved celebrations! - Day 22
- Trek to Lukla
A steep descent for 600m/2,000ft leads to the suspension bridge crossing the Dudh Kosi river. We cross the river twice more before a rising traverse up the hill-side, past numerous tea-houses to Lukla. - Day 23
- Lukla- Kathmandu.
An early morning flight takes us back to Kathmandu, and gives us a last view of the mountains we have just spent two weeks exploring. - Day 24
- At Leisure in Kathmandu. O/N Kathmandu Hotel.
An opportunity to relax and reflect on your adventures and to complete any sightseeing and last minute shopping. We will also organize an optional flight over Mt. Everest ($130 US) or an optional biking trip around the Kathmandu Valley. Later this evening we'll all meet up for a group farewell Nepali food with typical dance. - Day 25
- Departure with warm Good Bye.
Today is free to relax until departure or to commence any additional trips or activities you may have booked. If departing, you will transferred to the International Airport in time for your return flight home.
